Hong Kong protest 2020 // The new National security Act on Hong Kong

The new National Security Act has been imposed on Hong Kong by China on 1 July 2020.  The protest against this law in Hong Kong has become more intense.  China passed the new national law in its parliament with unanimous consent on June 30, 2020 within just 15 minutes.  Hong Kong's 23rd anniversary was being celebrated on 30 June itself.

What are China's new national security laws: -

The new national law for China Hong Kong has been implemented from 1 July.  The title of this law is 'The law of the people's republic of China on safe guarding national security in the Hong kong special administrative region'.  But in short this law is being called the new National Security Act.  Under this law, "endangering national security", "policy of secession with foreign forces", "sabotage", "convicted of terrorism", sentenced to life imprisonment up to a maximum of life  May go.  Apart from this, under Article 38 of this law, it will also apply to offenses which are committed from outside the region in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region by a person who is not a permanent resident of the area.

What is the purpose of this law: -

With the help of this law, China will be able to increase its influence in Hong Kong.  China wants the people of Hong Kong not to raise their voice for democracy and not to make any false statements against China nor to protest against the Chinese government.  The law would not allow accused to cross the border to the mainland of China to face trial, allowing China's security agency to open its installations in Hong Kong for the first time and increase China's influence in Hong Kong.

What did the Bar Association of Hong Kong say: -

Hong Kong's Bar Association has said that China's proposed new security law could run into trouble in the office.  Because China has no authority to apply its national security law to the former British colony.  Hong Kong people are demonstrating this by taking this law.  Many big countries of the world are also opposing this law.  USA has taken this law saying that this law snatches the rights of Hong Kong people and the US has called this law as draconiun law.  Australia, Japan and England have also protested strongly against this law.  The British Prime Minister Borish Johnson even said that we would give UK citizenship to 3 million people of Hong Kong, which has triggered a confrontation between China and England.

What is the history of Hong Kong: -

Hong Kong was formerly part of China, but in the first opium war of 1840–1842, the British defeated China and took possession of Hong Kong. This war was fought between China and the British for opium trade.  But in the second opium war, China defeated the British but the British borrowed some colonies from China to present their position firmly in the world and for their economic development, one of which was also the Colony Hong Kong.  All these colonies were leased from China for 99 years.  Hong Kong made a lot of progress during the British rule and caught the attention of all the people of the world.  But when China asked to return to Hong Kong in 1980, England started the process of returning this colony to China from 1980 and returned to China in 1997 with some conditions.

What was England's bet for Hong Kong: -

The Hong Kong British regime, while returning to China in 1997, stipulated that Hong Kong would be given to China under a two-nation system in which the judiciary and citizens of Hong Kong would have the right to freedom.  And this complete freedom and order will be for 50 years.  This means that this arrangement will be from 1997 to 2047.  But China has already broken this rule by introducing a new national law for Hong Kong.  Hong Kong's half-million people had also carried out fierce protests against China in 2003, taking Article 23 of Hong Kong's constitution.  This Article allows China to legislate against Hong Kong to prevent treason, segregation, sabotage.  England has reacted strongly against China's new law.

What does England say in this matter: -

British Prime Minister Borish Johnson has given a statement against this law of China, saying that 3 million Hong Kong citizens will be given citizenship and settled in the UK.  About 3 lakh 50 thousand people of Hong Kong already have British citizenship.  While 26 lakh other people are also entitled to get British citizenship through British National Overseas status.  China has strongly criticized this statement of England and has said that England should not interfere in Hong Kong issue.
